Corning, a manufacturer of toughened glass for Apple Inc.’s iPhone smartphone display, said it has developed a new version of superhard glass designed to address screen damage or breakage in everyday use. While the new version of tempered glass was launched, Apple tried to use sapphire to create the screen for its iPhone smartphone, but Apple’s sapphire partner, GT Advanced Technologies, has already fallen into bankruptcy. Apple's desire is to prevent the broken screen of mobile phones. And its billion investment has also failed to produce large quantities of superhard materials.
Corning said in a press release that it will have the device's screen facing down and then fall from a height of 1 meter or 39 inches high. It found that the new version of tempered glass has more than twice the hardness of the old reinforced glass. Corning stated that the survival rate of new glass is more than 80%. Tempered glass helps the development of iPhone smartphones. In the first few months of launching the first generation of iPhone smart phones, Steve Jobs sought cooperation with Corning and asked it to start producing superhard glass equipment.
